Heritage Canada
promotes the third Monday
in February as Heritage Day.

The 2005
theme is a Heritage
of Faith: Spiritual and Sacred Places.

Promoting the week with a similar theme is Heritage BC.
Nelson’s Sacred Spaces

In keeping with this year’s heritage theme, the Nelson Museum recognizes the beauty and significance of five Nelson sanctuaries:

Cathedral of Mary Immaculate  St. Saviour’s Pro Cathedral
Nelson Covenant Church  Nelson United Church  First Baptist Church

This is but a taste of the rich variety, beauty, and importance of local sacred spaces. Many churches, chapels, and meeting rooms are unrepresented, as are the spiritual sites of the Sinixt, Ktunaxa, and Spirit Wrestlers. For the latter, read the Heritage BC Newsletter.

Sanctuaries are presented as panoramas, as navigable images, and as build-it-yourself paper cubes. Navigable images depend upon Quicktime, which may need to be installed. Also available is a discussion about the photography.
